Camilla Dell, Managing Partner at Black Brick, was asked to share her thoughts with Paul Carey for The National News on riverside living in London.

London’s riverside developments remain popular thanks to ongoing regeneration and attractive waterfront locations. However, buyer priorities are shifting, with many now placing greater value on walkable neighbourhoods, local amenities and established communities.

Camilla Dell, Managing Partner of Black Brick, believes riverside developments are no longer as desirable as they once were.

“There was a time they were hugely popular – so popular that main estate agents such as Knight Frank and Savills set up dedicated ‘Riverside’ sales teams/offices,” she said. “It’s a telling sign that both these riverside offices have now shut. Many of the developments are now very dated and are also isolated.”

She added:

“Most buyers tend to prefer to be closer into Central London with ability to easily walk to a great high street. The exception is Battersea Power Station which has totally transformed the area and created a lively new public realm.”

While premium waterfront homes continue to attract demand, today’s buyers are increasingly seeking locations that offer a balance of lifestyle, connectivity and long-term value.
